Ranlo Fire and Rescue responded to a building fire on Franklin Street. The call came in through a fireman who stopped and woke the owner of the home up.
On arrival a box alarm was called bringing Lowell and Spencer Mountain Fire Departments to assist.
The fire threatened the home which was about 10 feet from the building.
The home only had minor smoke and heat damage to one wall. There were no injuries.
Gaston County Fire Marshals Office is investigating.
